Moon on 2.1.2020

Moon Diary – 2.1.2020 Saturday — Happy February!

Saturday is associated with Saturn.

Saturn is related to slow moving energy, the elderly, long life, the judge, the field of law, career, wealth and incoming gains, as well as restriction and difficulties. It reflects the karma we are here to burn off in this lifetime, and in that sense, it is a planet of rectification and much needed correction, and its overall effect is one of triumph through discipline and hard work.

Today is the 8th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Ashtami, also known as the 8th tithi or 8th lunar day. It is ruled by Shiva.

Shiva is about battle, and transforming that which no longer serves into more evolved & higher-principled action and outcomes. Shiva is the ascetic dweller of the mountains and the cosmic dancer, who with His third eye destroys evil.

The Moon is in the sign of Aries (using the sidereal zodiac), and in the nakshatra of Ashwini.

Ashwini is ruled by Ketu, and Aries is ruled by Mars. This can be seen as physically vigorous (Mars) and emotionally detached (Ketu).

The deity of Ashwini is the twin horses – horses are a symbol of prana, breath and vitality. The twin horses show the impulsive nature of Aries that needs to be harnessed and focused.

The Moon in Ashwini is reflective of possessing an enthusiastic drive towards the goal.

So we have Saturn ruling the day, with Mars and Shiva giving the day a push – great day for getting things done, chores accomplished, rolling up the sleeves and getting a move on – clean the house, clear out the basement, organize the closets, and put the garage in order – channeling assertive energy in a positive manner – if you have hidden anger, you can channel it into accomplishments, attainments, and goals met. Scream out loud – give the war cry of your life – sing to the top of up of your lungs while listening to music on max volume in your living room, in the basement, while driving in your car – it is that kind of day.

Traditionally not an auspicious day for most ceremonies.

3.1.18 Moon Diary

FULL MOON

Thursday is associated with the planet Jupiter, representing higher teachings – what we are here to learn – and the expansion of wisdom and experience in our lives. Jupiter is a sattvic and benefic planet, and is said to be a significator of luck and fortune.

Today is the 15th day of the Waxing Moon, Shukla Purnima, and tonight at 7:51 pm (Eastern) the Moon will be at its fullest.

The deity is the Vishvadevas, all the Hindu deities as a whole.

The Moon is in the sign of Leo, ruled by the Sun, and in the Nakshatra of Purva Phalguni, ruled by Venus.

The deity of Purva Phalguni is Bhaga, the God of Prosperity, who protects marital happiness and bestows family inheritance.

The lesson of Purva Phalguni is to be generous rather than self-indulgent with all the gifts and grace we receive on all levels in our life.

So today is, in essence, a holy day – a day where feelings are at a peak, and with Jupiter ruling the day, we’re feeling the higher beliefs, what we believe in, the guru in our life.

So today we can pray easily – the channels are open – the Full Moon is auspicious for sensing the blessings. Be generous with your time and praise – encourage the kids, pray for everyone in the family, meditate with the spouse – feel the richness all around – every moment is filled with possibility and shakti – know it, feel it, sing it, speak it – feel the awesome energy of the divine pulsing through your veins and all the meridians and channels in your body – that’s the kind of day it is. Sing in the car as loud as you want, whistle while you work, joke with your co-workers and friends – it is a peak day for feeling alive.

Good day for meditation, reflection, prayer, and feeling the flow of grace. Also a ripe time for completion of projects.

In addition, Mercury, Sun, and Venus are all in Aquarius, an air sign – so there is quite a bit of energy in regards to having ideas in groups, clubs, classrooms, board meetings – the energy is creative and expressive, and it may be especially fun and social, with Venus in the mix; expressive, with Mercury; and active, with the Sun’s influence.

Traditionally, an auspicious day for ceremonies, spiritual practices, and the manifestation of wishes.

Moon Diary for Wednesday 10.11.17

Moon Diary 10.11.117

Wednesday is associated with Mercury.

Mercury is about our ability to communicate, our intelligence, logical thinking, our curiosity.

Today is the 22nd day of the lunar cycle, Krishna Saptami, the 7th day of the waning Moon. The diety is Indra, considered the leader of the ancient Vedic deities.

Indra is the chief deity in ancient Vedic Hinduism and the god of war and rain, which were the greatest concerns of the people in India at that time. He separated the heavens and the earth by defeating Vrtra, a snake-dragon representation of chaos and obstacles. He is considered a warrior god and the lord of thunder and lightning.

Using the sidereal zodiac, the Moon is in the sign of Gemini, ruled by Mercury, and in the Nakshatra called Ardra, ruled by Rahu.

Ardra’s deity is Rudra, an early version of Shiva, who transforms, changes and destroys that which is not in accordance with Dharma, righteousness and truth. It is a Nakshatra of change, swift action, transformation, and rebelliousness.

Rahu-ruled Ardra can be stormy in character; prone to temper-tantrums, and can be seen to have a deep emotional need to feel hormonal, wild, and instinctive.

So today is all about Mercury, which rules the day (Wednesday) and the sign of Gemini, with Rudra looming large with action, courage, and transformation.

This is a good day, for communication, taking action, and being fair and thorough.

A good time for talking, writing, speaking to someone you are close to for clarity and clearing; an excellent time to call, email, text those you love, or those with whom you need to touch base; also an opportune time to organize our ideas, clear your desk, throw away anything unneeded; clean out the car; organize the attic or basement.

Maybe also give yourself time to meditate – to empty your mind and feel the peace of your own heart, calming the version of Rudra that lives inside you.

Traditionally not an auspicious day for ceremonies.

Moon Diary -8.5.17

Moon Diary for August 5, 2017

Saturday is associated with Saturn.

Saturn (aka Shani) is a malefic planet, a planet of learning, and one of life’s greatest teacher.

When well placed, it gives its natives integrity, wisdom, patience, ability to lead, authority, and organizational abilities.

When not well placed or ill-aspected, it can bring miseries, sorrow, delays, disappointment, and dis-harmony.

Today is the 13th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Trayodashi. We are moving towards a full moon, which occurs on Sunday night.

The Moon is in the sidereal sign of Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, and in the Nakshatra of Purva Ashadha (ruled by ), whose deity is Apas, deified water.

Water is related to emotions, compassion, and accommodation. It is the most forgiving, and yielding of all elements.

So today is all about Saturn with Jupiter and Venus, joined with the goddess of water.

Great day to be near water, the pool, the ocean, the river –with family & friends – sit near water, swim in water, dream of water –follow the story of emotions, which may manifest just being near water. Talk of love, of dreams, of art and music, of what gives you pleasure. Just recognize how healing water can be, how it can calm the nervous system, how it can ease the mind and relax your body – not unlike going to church or being in the wild of the woods.

Also a good day, if you are so inclined, to organize the basement,  the garage, the kitchen, the attic (if it’s not too hot). Saturn’s energy is to dive into tasks that require logic and organization – working in a slow and methodical pace – until the work is done.

Traditionally a good day for karma removing rituals and dancing.

Moon Diary Thursday August 3

Moon Diary for August 3, 2017

Thursday is associated with the planet Jupiter, representing higher teachings – what we are here to learn – and the expansion of wisdom and experience in our lives. Jupiter is a sattvic and benefic planet, and is said to be a significator of luck and fortune.

Today is the 12th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Dwadashi

Moon is in the sign of Scorpio, ruled by Mars, and in the Nakshatra of Jyeshtha, ruled by Mercury. The deity of Jyeshtha of Indra, the god of all gods. The shakti of this nakshatra is to go to battle for what is righteous; the action to avoid is to turn everything into a war zone and become part of the drama.

Such an interesting day – the Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, and ruled by Mars and Mercury, and Mars is debilitated in Cancer .

So today we tune into Jupiter, who takes the high road – the feelings can be intense – Moon in Scorpio, conjunct with a retrograde Saturn, ruled by a debilitated Mars. Anger could crop up anywhere – good to be forewarned – chant the mantra – breathe deep at every turn – if you are driving a car – slow down, get in the right lane – turn on some beautiful music, and sing to your heart’s content.

Could be a day where you don’t feel so confident, where decisions are tentative, where you remember more the feeling of being alone in childhood and less the love that was always there.

So stay with what you can do in this moment –let it be a good day for seva (Selfless service) – clean up after someone while saying “I love you” inwardly – spread kindness like you feel it, and soon enough you will feel it all.

Traditionally, an auspicious day for all ceremonies and events.

Moon Diary 12.13.16

Today is the 15th and final day of the waxing Moon – Shukla Purnima – Full Moon. The brightness of the Moon is an indicator of strength and auspiciousness, and for any action to bear fruit, the Moon should be strong, and it is strongest when full.

Tuesday, associated with the planet Mars, good for initiating things.

Mars rules over courage, bravery, self-confidence, and leadership qualities. He is fond of law and order, is related to short-temperedness, and can be argumentative. Also related to soldiers, policemen, lovers of weapons.

The Moon is in the sign of Taurus, ruled by Venus, and also in the Nakshatra of Mrigashira, ruled by Mars. The symbol for Mrishira is the deer’s head, and there’s a sense of someone with the intuitive gift of being able to “sniiff out” people and feelings and vibes.

The deity of Mrigashira is Soma, who is the god of the immortal nectar. Soma is the nectar of immortality that drips down from the crown chakra – the result of achieving the deep states of inner bliss and ecstasy found in meditation.

The Moon is the Mother, the font of unconditional love, the goddess of connection and the ruler over water, the seas, and the plant kingdom. Moon is the mind, the emotions, and pure feminine. If you find yourself moody, emotional and sensitive, that is the Moon being acted upon by stressful forces.

And in fact, Saturn is aspecting the Moon by transit, putting pressure and creating stress and anxiety. That said, the Moon is very strong, being full and in its sign of exaltation. It could be the Saturn aspect brings seriousness and determination is all we do.

So it’s a courageous day, filled with intuition, action and getting in touch with the feminine qualities of compassion, kindness, and empathy. It could take courage to be kind to someone, for instance. Or it could be taking action in an empathetic way, like buying a homeless person dinner, or just being extra sweet to your kids or your best friend.

Feeling the Moon at its strongest could lead to emotions being strong, whether it be anger at someone being mean, or being happy at the sight of your family, or crying at the thought of your mother long since passed. Just notice and breathe, and pause before reacting to anything or anybody – it could be that kind of day.

A great day for all ceremonies and worship – an auspicious day for praying, singing, and chanting. An ideal time for wishing on the Moon and visualizing the manifestation of good in the lives of everyone, everywhere,  all the time.

Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu – may all beings in all worlds be happy.

Thursday is associated with Jupiter.

Jupiter is a benefic, masculine planet, signifier of luck and fortune, and he rules religion, philosophy, spirituality, and higher teachings. He is known as Guru or Father, and represents the husband in a woman’s chart. He is noble, dignified, fruitful, and optimistic.

Jupiter generally brings benefits to whatever planets or house it is associated with.

Today is the 9th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Navami. The influence of the Moon is growing stronger in the waxing cycle, and we are leading up to a full Moon on Tuesday, December 13.

The Moon is in the sign of Pisces, ruled by Jupiter, and in the Nakshatra of Uttara Bhadra, and the deity is Ahir Budhnya, the Serpent of the Deep Sea, and part of Lord Shiva’s army – which reflects the warrior nature of this lunar mansion.

Uttara Bhadra people like to serve higher causes. They can be quite selfless and very committed to spiritual awakening and growth.

So today is being a spiritual warrior, at least in your own mind. A day to be strong in the pursuit of your own truth, and to keep your intentions clear and focused.

So it could be a day to do yoga, meditate, and chant your mantra. A day to walk in the woods and feel the power of Spirit in nature. A day to speak softly to your spouse, your kids, your parents, your siblings, with the intention of putting everyone at ease. A day to talk to the Divine in the language of your heart.

You could try to talk to someone you’ve been avoiding, taking advantage of the warrior energy and mustering up courage to connect with somebody who is a sore spot in your life.

Do what you can where you can – look for the spots where you can improve your life and your behavior, and you will be led to all you need to do, to see, and to act on.

Traditionally, an inauspicious day for traveling and ceremonies.

Moon Diary 12.7.16

Wednesday is associated with Mercury.

Mercury is about our ability to communicate, our intelligence, logical thinking, our curiosity.

Today is the 8th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Ashtami, also known as the 8th tithi or 8th lunar day.

The deities of Shukla Ashtami are the Vasus. In Hinduism the Vasus are attendant deities of Indra, and later Vishnu. They are eight elemental gods representing aspects of nature and cosmic natural phenomenon.

The Moon is in the sign of Aquarius (most of the day) – ruled by Saturn, and in the Nakshatra of Purva Bhadra, and the deity is Aja Ekapada, a one-footed goat that is the vehicle for the fiery god, Agni.

The shakti is “the power to raise a spiritual person up in life”. This nakshatra is ruled by the benefic Jupiter, which reflects the high idealism of this asterism.
The influence of PurvaBhadra often leads to success in the business world, with a primary motivation toward artha, or prosperity.

So this easily could be a day of intelligence, common sense, and curiosity in the business world, in your job, in your career, in your actions of the world.

It’s a day of implementation – bringing ideas into form. Could be a song, a short story, a drawing, a castle in the sand – an idea taking shape in one form another.

So go with the flow of the mind- allow your ideas to emerge without resistance, and the rest will take care of itself. Just being mindful of this energy will bring success to this process.

Traditionally, an inauspicious day for most ceremonies.

Moon Diary for Tuesday 12.6.16

Tuesday is associated with Mars.

Mars is all about action, putting forth your ideas in an assertive way, and being willing to fight for what you believe. Mars is the lawyer, the soldier, will power.

Today is the 7th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Saptami, and the deity is Indra.

Indra is the chief deity in ancient Vedic Hinduism and the god of war and rain, which were the greatest concerns of the people in India at that time. He separated the heavens and the earth by defeating Vritra, a snake-dragon representation of chaos and obstacles. His is considered a warrior god and the lord of thunder and lightning.

In Vedic Astrology, using the sidereal zodiac, the Moon is in the sign of Aquarius, ruled by Saturn, and in the Nakashatra of Shatabishak, whose deity is Varuna, the God of Medicine and the Cosmic Waters, which provides a strong connection to the healings arts.

The shakti of Shatabishak is “the power of healing”. The symbol for Shatabishak is an empty circle, reflecting the independent nature and autonomy experienced through this lunar mansion.

So this could easily be a day of being assertive about your health, about your boundaries, about your knowing how to take care of yourself and others.

It is a day of healing, a day of speaking up about what you need, a day of getting around to taking care of yourself in whatever way speaks to you.

It could be taking a walk on your lunch break; it could be eating the right foods and chewing your food properly; it could be just doing one thing at a time instead of multi-tasking the day away. Breathe, notice, feel – be aware of pauses between thoughts, between sentences, between words. Be awake to your own inner guidance, and all will be well.

Traditionally, it is an auspicious day for marriage and ceremonies.

Moon Diary for Thursday 10.13.16

Thursday is ruled by Jupiter.

Jupiter is a sattvic and benefic planet, and represents the Guru, the father, the teacher, the minister, higher teachings, and the husband in a woman’s chart. It is the indicator of children and the significator of luck and fortune.

Today is the 12th day of the waxing Moon, Shukla Dwadashi, and the deity is Vishnu. We are working up to a full moon on early Sunday morning, 12:22 am ET.

Vishnu is know as the Paramatman (supreme soul) and is regarded as a major god in Hinduism and Indian mythology. He is thought of as the preserver of the universe.

The Moon is in the sign of Aquarius, ruled by Saturn, and in the Nakashatra of Purva Bhadra Pada, ruled by Jupiter. The deity is Aja Ekapada, which means “one-footed goat”.

Literally, Aja Ekapada is related to lightning – it is a way to symbolize lightning – a one-footed goat – because the lightning strikes in one spot. It represents that spark of creativity, that surge of Kundalini – a charge of energy that enables us to see our own divinity.

So today is a day of good fortune – think positive and good things will come. The energy points to goodness, expansion, creativity, and blessings all around.

With the Moon in Aquarius, it could be a day of working for causes, giving money to a non-profit, being in the public eye, and being generous with time, energy, and money, wherever it is needed in your circle of family and friends.

Be on the lookout for ways to share your generosity – it could be just smiling someone as you pass them on the sidewalk or in the grocery store. Be generous with your love and energy – it costs nothing and it is those little positive things done consistently that change the world – think globally, act locally.

Traditionally, an auspicious day for all ceremonies and events.
